
No. 13/14 Men’s Lacrosse Hosts No. 5/6 Loyola on Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — No. 13/14 Rutgers men's lacrosse begins a four-game homestand against No. 5/6 Loyola University Maryland on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at SHI Stadium.
The game will be live streamed on B1G+ with Dom Savino and Rick Mercurio on the call.
It is Youth Lacrosse Day at SHI Stadium with a loaded agenda for parents and young fans.
Ethan Rall enters the game with 65 caused turnovers, the third most in the program since the stat began being tracked in 2006. The senior needs two more to tie Jacob Fradkin (2009-12) for second all-time.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Loyola finished the 2022 campaign with a 8-8 record, falling to Army in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. This season, the Greyhounds are undefeated through their first two games, earning victories over Maryland and Johns Hopkins. Graduate Student SSDM Payton Rezenka was named a First Team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine, and a Second Team Preseason All-American by the USILA. Graduate Student defender Cam Wyers was named a Preseason All-American Honorable Mention by all three. Midfielders Adam Poitras and Evan James were the team's second and third highest goal scorers a season ago with 29 and 26, respectively.

Saturday's contest is the 14th all-time between the two teams. The Greyhounds have the advantage in the series with an 11-2 record. Rutgers' most recent win over Loyola came in 2022, earning a 13-12 victory in Baltimore behind four goals from Ross Scott. A win this weekend would be the Scarlet Knight's first ever set of back-to-back wins against Loyola.

- Rutgers enters the contest looking to bounce back after falling to Army, 14-13, last weekend. Seniors Ross Scott and Brian Cameron led the scoring in the contest with five and three goals, respectively.
- Scott has a team-high 12 points this season. Cameron, junior Jack Aimone, and sophomore Dante Kulas all have collected 10 points in the 2023 campaign.
- A junior midfielder, Aimone has stepped into an impact role this season. He has seven goals through three games. At Army, he set two new career-highs with two assists and four points.
- Kulas has recorded seven goals this spring. The sophomore attackman had a breakout performance in the season opener against Marist with five goals and three assists.
- The Scarlet Knights are second in the Big Ten in goals, averaging 14.67 per contest. The team leads the conference with an average of 50.0 shots per game.
- Rutgers has been excellent at the X, winning faceoffs at a .590 clip to rank 17th in the nation and third in the Big Ten. Jonathan Dugenio is 18-26 (.692) and Joe Neuman is 29-51 (.569).
- Kyle Mullin has started all three games in net with a 9.80 goals-against average, ranking 15th in the nation.
