
No. 6 Men's Lacrosse Travels to No. 19 Ohio State for Big Ten Opener Sunday on BTN

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - No. 6/6 Rutgers men's lacrosse opens Big Ten play this weekend. Riding a five-game winning-streak, Rutgers will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on No. 19/19 Ohio State on Sunday night at 7 p.m. in the league lid lifter.
RU capped off non-conference play with a 7-1 record, marking the second straight year the Scarlet Knights entered Big Ten play against Ohio State with just one loss outside of league play.
ON THE AIR
The game will air nationwide on Big Ten Network. The usual BTN announcing crew of Joe Beninati and Mark Dixon will have the call. Rutgers' fans can also tune in to Mark Dixon's podcast via Inside Lacrosse this week to hear an interview with head coach Brian Brecht.
All five regular season Big Ten games are slated to be on national television, between Big Ten Network (three) and ESPNU (two). BTN will also air the Big Ten Tournament semifinals and championship games.
ABOUT THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
No. 6/6 Rutgers took just one blemish on their early season slate, a one-goal road loss in a rivalry matchup in West Point against Army. Following that, RU claimed multiple ranked wins (No. 5 Loyola and No. 13 Princeton), and just finished non-league play last weekend with a dominant defensive effort in an 11-5 win at UMass. Five of the eight opponents faced were ranked or receiving votes in the national polls at the time of the matchup.
Offensively, has gotten 64 goals this season from its three typical starting attackmen (Ross Scott, Dante Kulas, Brian Cameron). The starting midfield of Shane Knobloch, Jack Aimone and David Sprock have combined for 41 goals, with 82 percent of the team's 127 goals this season coming from those six players.
Sophomore Dante Kulas has a career-high 22 goals in a breakthrough season, tying Ross Scott for the team-high, while also leading the team in points with 30.
Defensively, Kyle Mullin has shined between the pipes. In his first season at RU, he leads the Big Ten with a 9.24 goals-against-average and a .558 save percentage. Last weekend in a win at UMass, he allowed just fiv goals, the fewest allowed in a game by RU since 2021 (12-5 win over Lehigh in the NCAA Tournament, a 28-game span) and the fewest goals RU has allowed in a true road game since March 2, 2019 at Fairfield (55 games ago). It was the third time this season holding an opponent to 6 goals or fewer. The last time RU held 3 opponents to 6 or fewer goals in a game in the same season was 2017.
In the national rankings, Rutgers is second in turnovers (12.5 per game), sixth in scoring margin (+5.5), seventh in scoring defense (9.12) and eighth in scoring offense (14.62).
RU has excelled in third quarters this spring, outscoring opponents, 32-13. Over the last five contests, RU is outscoring opponents 22-6 in the third quarter.
