Baseball Clinches Series Over Bryant with Run-Rule Victory

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball clinched its series over Bryant with a 14-0, run-rule victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Scarlet Knights (8-5) scored eight runs in the first two innings to jump out to a big lead and defeat the Bulldogs (4-7) to improve to 3-0 at home in 2026.
What was a great day for Rutgers baseball started off with a pregame ceremony to celebrate the offseason upgrades at Bainton Field. Rutgers University President William F. Tate IV and Director of Athletics Keli Zinn were in attendance for the ceremony, with Zinn throwing out the first pitch to Sir Henry.
In collaboration with the R Fund, the program also launched the "Name a Seat" campaign, where fans have the opportunity to make a donation for a personalized nameplate to be displayed on one of the new chairback seats at Bainton Field.
On the diamond, RU plated a pair in the first on a Trey Wells single and a wild pitch. In the second, the Scarlet Knights took full control with six more. After an error made it 3-0, Peyton Bonds hit a two-run home run and Tristan Salinas followed with a three-run homer to push the advantage to 8-0.
Bonds had a massive day at the plate, adding on later in the contest with an RBI single and two-run double. He finished the game with a 4-for-4 mark, a home run, double, five RBIs and three runs scored.
Charlie Meglio added a two-run single in the third and Tyler Wiltsey delivered an RBI single in the sixth for his first career RBI, pushing the scoreline to 14-0.
On the mound, it was another dominant day for Zack Konstantinovsky. He delivered five scoreless innings, yielding just two hits and one walk, striking out five. It was his second straight scoreless outing after throwing seven scoreless in the win over Western Carolina a week ago.
Matthew Cruz got the ball for the sixth, striking out one in a scoreless frame. Finn Haines made his collegiate debut in the seventh, closing out the run-rule victory with a 1-2-3 frame that featured his first career strikeout.
Rutgers will go for the sweep against Bryant tomorrow, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. at Bainton Field.
